About this spot

Fliegerhorst Wunstorf is an airbase operated by the German Air Force in Lower Saxony. It is situated near the Steinhuder Meer, the largest lake in that area. The lake itself is surrounded with several natural reserves. Although being very shallow and therefore perfect for beginners in kite- and windsurfing, there are several ship lines across the lake.

Steinhuder Meer is a major tourist attraction, with bike and hiking paths along its coastline. The main activities there are sailing as well as kite- and windsurfing. For these sports there are multiple competitions running each year. Motor boat operations are not permitted on the lake, with very few exceptions.
